At TCS we know it’s our team of exceptional and conscientious nurses and care staff who make all the difference in the lives of our clients. We take pride in recognising a nurse and HCA, from the north and the south of the country each month, who've gone above and beyond expectations. Find out below about our previous winners.

    “Rachael has a wealth of expertise, a lovely manner and a good knowledge of how to work in a team collaboratively. She demonstrates all of the values that TCS require of a nurse and is able to put TCS values into practice. Congratulations Rachael!”

    Carer of the month – North – Marta Godyn

    “Marta is so flexible when it comes to supporting TCS, she frequently uses annual leave in her other job to cover shifts for one of our clients at short notice and never expects any extra praise. Our client’s mum says she is a shining example to the rest of the team. Congratulations Marta!”

    Carer of the month – South – Emma Hourihane

    “Emma is always supportive to the client in what can be a difficult environment. Emma has a depth of knowledge and is able to use this knowledge to good effect. She is consistent in her manner and approach which demonstrates the core values that TCS uphold. Congratulations Emma!”

    Nurse of the month – South – Davina Sycamore

    “Davina has delivered a high level of clinical care and compassion during her time with her client. She is always reliable, punctual and professional. Recently the client's mother suffered an acute episode of ill health. During this time, Davina safely managed the client whilst also attending to mum's needs. For these reasons, her client's mum has requested that we nominate Davina and thank her for her efforts.''

    “Jane shows great dedication to her client and their family. She is really caring, and has swapped work around elsewhere in order to be able to support a family holiday.''

    “Priscillah is always reliable, and shows great commitment to her job. She was also the only one of all contacted candidates who took part in the Cotswold Challenge with us at the end of June/beginning of July. Well done and thank you for taking part, Priscillah.''

    “Tom always steps up and goes the extra mile, his communication is top notch and has helped prevent unwanted outcomes. He is always so kind and polite with a wealth of knowledge.     Nurse of the month – South – Anila Prasanth

    “Anila cares for her clients with the upmost compassion and professionalism. She has gained the families trust and respect in a very short space of time and she confidently and competently managed the clients very challenging and demanding clinical needs. She also shares her knowledge and skills with new team members. Anila will always pick up additional shifts when she is available and has great communication with the Clinical Lead.     Nurse of the month – North – Maria Crossland

    “Maria is brilliant. From the start of the package, Maria covered all shifts with a colleague in a seven day week. The family would not accept any additional team members to help with covering gaps, so Maria used her expertise to ensure that all care was delivered to a high standard. She showed professionalism and integrity at all times. Without Maria and her colleague, the package would have probably broken down. The family only wanted a small team, but they made it work. Both nurses were always respectful, very passionate and committed to the package. They made sure paperwork and supplies were always up to date and reported all concerns to TCS promptly.”

    Nurse of the month – South – Simon Shaw

    “Simon is a clinical coordinator for one of our packages. He has worked so hard within this package to allow the patient to attend university, attain a first class degree and lead as independent life as possible, including traveling abroad extensively. Simon shows integrity at all times. If we have any issues with this package we are able to call Simon, due to his expertise with the package, any time of the day or night. He is professional, respectful and passionate about the care he provides, he is always extremely helpful and supportive. He was especially supportive when we had no clinical leads or case managers. He has been the clinical co-ordinator in the package for over six years, working tirelessly to support the client, care team, and TCS field team.”

    HCA of the month – North – Jenny Falconer

    “Jenny is very good at reporting any changes or concerns. Jenny helped establish her client’s confidence within the home and the community by supporting him emotionally and working with him and encouraging him. Jenny showed her passion and professionalism when she supported the client on holiday in 2016, which proved to be very successful. The client never made any attempt to speak to us on reviews and rarely was seen in the meetings – but is now speaking and leading his meetings confidently. The family praise Jenny regularly on the success of this package, her integrity, expertise and the respect she shows. Though this package is not a clinical package – her client has become a totally new person since the set-up of this package. He is now cooking for the family – when he was unable to even consider the thought in the beginning.”

    Nurse of the Month – South – Biji John

    “Biji is hard working, passionate about her care and dedicated to her client. She joined the team at a time when the client and her family were going through exceptionally difficult circumstances. Biji was professional at all times and showed her expertise in her care. She is a real asset with her hard-working ethic, her integrity and respect, alongside genuine care and compassion. She has blended in seamlessly to the team and has great communication with all members of the MDT & TCS field team.”

    Carer of the Month – South – Audrey Ndonda

    “Audrey has been a key part of the team in her package for some time. Audrey is always professional and goes over and above to support her client. Both parents compliment the care and clinical reassurance she presents and appreciate the care she delivers to her client. Audrey is good team player, respectful, passionate, shows expertise in her care and is very reliable. She shows great commitment, good support to the family and has provided stability in the package, integrity and the work she completes is to a high standard. Audrey keeps TCS updated and signposts the family to relevant services.”

    Nurse of the Month – North - Eddie Burgess

    “Eddie has been supporting his client since TCS took on the package. He has always worked at a consistently high standard within this package. He is passionate about the care he provides, shows expertise in his skills and is considerate to the client, his family, other workers within the package and TCS as a whole. He has always ensured that he informs TCS of what is happening within the package and raises any concerns he may have with the care plan or change in client needs and with this he shows integrity and is professional at all times.”

    Carer of the Month – North - Daniel Zeegbou

    “Daniel is passionate about the care he provides, is respectful and shows his expertise in the way he is committed to his client. He shows integrity in all that he does and is professional at all times. Daniel is always helping us out of tricky situations and always does his best on and off of shift.”

    Nurse of the Month – South - Edith Aculey

    “Edith has recently demonstrated a true commitment to her role as a community nurse. In the past few weeks she has had to take time out for personal reasons but has since returned and hit the ground running picking up an urgent shift for TCS at short notice. She is always professional when dealing with any client and is respectful at all times. Edith has integrity, she is hard working, passionate about her work and always a good time keeper. Edith shows her expertise in caring for her clients and is always quick to answer a call from the TCS team.”

    Carer of the Month – South - Cleo Scieszko

    “Cleo is always available for a package and will pick up last minute shifts as she is passionate about the care she provides to her clients. She shows integrity, never complains and is always happy to help. She is renowned for changing her own plans to do a shift and help a client out. Cleo is very caring, professional at all times and shows respect to her clients and the TCS team. Cleo is always ready to help, with a smile on her face.”

    Nurse of the Month – North- Neil Page

    “Neil has proven his worth on many occasions and has recently covered some urgent shifts for us at very short notice. Neil is always happy to assist us in any way he can and on this particular occasion was happy to stay with our client for longer than originally planned. Neil maintains a professional and helpful manner at all times. He is passionate about the care he gives and always shows integrity and expertise in caring for his client. Neil is always respectful to his client and the wider TCS team.”

    Carer of the Month – North - Mani Kaur

    “Mani has been an exceptional carer. She is incredibly professional and shows integrity at all times. She is kind-hearted and passionate about the care she provides. The family of the client have said that in the short time they have known Mani she has been reliable, professional and very polite. She has already formed a bond with her client and is a valued member of the team.”

    Nurse of the Month – South - Irene Clarke

    “Irene has recently demonstrated a true commitment to her role as a community nurse. In the past month she came back early from a holiday abroad to pick up urgent shifts for TCS at short notice. She shows her expertise in caring for her client and is respectful at all times. Irene has integrity and is passionate about the care she provides. She is always professional when dealing with her client, their family and the wider TCS team. Irene is reliable, never complains and is always happy to help the client’s family when required.”

    Carer of the Month – South - Elaine Mctigue

    “Elaine is very committed and dedicated in the care she provides for her client. She takes the time to understand her client’s needs. Elaine shows her integrity in all that she does and is professional at all times. She is respectful when caring for her client or dealing with the TCS team. Elaine always portrays her gentle, kind, caring nature. She is passionate about being a carer and often supports new staff within the package.”

    Carer of the Month – North - Mandy Brown

    “Mandy has played a vital role in providing excellent standards of care and supporting our client’s family as the package transitioned from nurse to carer led. Mandy has built solid, compassionate relationships with both the child and their family. She is passionate about the care she provides ensuring great support and reassurance to the family, whilst maintaining professional boundaries. Mandy has also gone above and beyond to support and integrate new carers into the package and has demonstrated an excellent understanding of her role as she educates others.

    Recently, Mandy was required to use her knowledge and expertise to attend to her client during an acute emergency and excelled in her role as care giver and communicator. She acted quickly and appropriately to ensure the child was safe and all their needs were attended to. Mandy was commended for her actions by both the Emergency Services and the Children’s Community Nurses. Mandy is always polite, friendly and works hard. It is a pleasure to have her as a valued member of TCS.”

    Nurse of the Month – South - Jenna Ridout

    “Jenna has been amazing over the past 12 months and has shown a true commitment to her role as a community nurse. She has supported the planning and preparation for her client to attend school for the first time. Jenna has been professional, shown expertise and integrity at all times when dealing with TCS and the wider multidisciplinary team. Jenna is passionate about the care she gives and is respectful at all times. On May 17th our client was able to attend school for the first time – a huge milestone in any child’s life and a day that our client’s family were unsure would ever come. With Jenna by their side, our client’s parents feel comfortable and confident allowing them to attend school.”

    “Carol is devoted to her client, passionate about the care she provides and is professional at all times. She shows integrity and expertise in all that she does. Carol is always happy to assist in any way she can and recently picked up extra shifts over the last bank holiday to ensure the client had adequate care. Carol is respectful and always helpful when dealing with her client and the wider TCS team. She is reliable and always happy to help.”

    Nurse of the Month – North - Gurjeet Kaur

    “Gurjeet has demonstrated a true commitment to her role as a community nurse and is an invaluable member of the team. She has integrity and is passionate about the care she provides. Gurjeet is always professional and vigilant when supporting her client. She shows her expertise in caring for her client and is a truly dedicated nurse.     Nurse of the Month – North - Charmaine Gooding

    “Charmaine has been amazing, hardworking and passionate about the care she provides. She remained as the only TCS nurse working in a very difficult package, which demonstrated her professionalism, integrity and commitment. Charmaine used her expertise to help train several carers in how to support their client in the best way. She has changed her personal and work commitments a number of times to ensure her client had support up until he was admitted to hospital. She stepped in when others wouldn’t. She remained vigilant, passionate and respectful at all times.”

    Carer of the Month – North - Agne Arlauskaite

    “Agne is a committed to the care she provides. She is always available to support her clients and will often pick up shifts at the last minute. Agne is passionate about the care she provides to her clients and is eager to help when she can. She shows her integrity in all that she does and is professional at all times. Agne has a desire to help and get us out of difficult situations, often at the shortest of notice and can cope in very stressful situations. Agne is reliable, kind and respectful at all times.”

    “Claire has demonstrated a true commitment to her role as a community nurse. She is passionate about the care she provides and has integrity at all times. Claire has been a huge support to her RCL. She shows her expertise in caring for her client and is respectful. Claire embeds our core values in the care she provides and when dealing with her client, their family and the wider TCS team. She is always patient and kind to her clients, goes above and beyond and delivers her care in a compassionate manner.”

    “Yasmin has been amazing. She is passionate about the care she provides and puts in 100% effort every time she cares for her client. Yasmin is an example of someone who upholds the principles of the TCS values. She is incredibly professional and shows integrity at all times. Yasmin shows her expertise in caring for her client.     Nurse of the Month – North - Emma Hodgson

    “Emma has demonstrated a true commitment to her role as a community nurse. She is reliable, very professional and passionate about the care she provides. Emma’s attitude is second to none and she is respectful to her client, family and wider TCS team at all time. Her client's family wanted to nominate Emma. They told us 'Emma goes the extra mile, she’s not only in tune with our son’s medical needs but his mental development too. As a family we see Emma a lot and she has become very much like part of the family.”

    Nurse of the Month – South - Callum Holden Cooper

    “Callum is a valuable team member. He is passionate about the care he provides, has great communication skills and is professional at all times. Callum regularly attends team meetings and makes valuable contributions. He picks up shifts at the last minute and shows integrity in all that he does. He has genuine care and compassion towards his client and family. He shows his expertise in caring for his client, has excellent clinical stills and is extremely competent in managing acute emergencies.”

The client’s mother has said “Clare has been with us for a number of years and has managed to be both highly professional and caring throughout. She is able to balance the technical aspects of her role with the more routine to a consistently high standard. Everything she does is with enthusiasm and kindness. Clare is also a great team player and blends into our household seamlessly. We are always pleased and reassured to see her, she is greatly appreciated.’’

    Carer of the Month – North - Veronika Sedlakova

    “Veronika has been with TCS for the past 12 years and has worked on many community packages. She is an excellent worker always covering shifts at the very last minute and always puts the needs of the client first. Veronika has been one of the long-standing carers for her client and shows her expertise and professionalism in the care she provides. She is passionate about her work and supports her client in all social activities she attends. She is always professional, courteous , respectful and a true ambassador for TCS.”

    Nurse of the Month – North –Samantha Graves

    “Samantha is a very valued member of the team. Her knowledge, professionalism and understanding of the client and his needs is outstanding. She is passionate and endeavours to provide the very best care at all times. Samantha shows integrity and expertise when caring for her client. She is proactive and has maintained communication with the field team during a transition period to ensure the client and family receive the very best service. Samantha has been a constant source of support, reassurance and compassion. The client’s family speak very highly of Samantha at every opportunity and praise her hard work and dedication.”

    Nurse of the Month – South – Jenny Allen

    “Jenny is a shining example of what TCS nurses are all about. She is passionate about the care she provides and is professional at all times. Jenny shows her expertise in all she does and is always respectful to her client, family and the wider TCS team. She has worked brilliantly with her client for several years and he has developed a good relationship with her. The client’s mother has said the following: ‘My son can sometimes become distressed, so it has been really reassuring to have someone there who can comfort him, as well as keeping him happy and distracted.’ Clinically, Jenny has always recognised her client’s neurological episodes, which are rare and challenging to interpret. She has been able to assess, advise and manage them competently and appropriately. Jenny has been very supportive of her client, holistically picking up his physio and occupational therapy routines, whilst proactively initiating therapy activities e.g. sensory opportunities. ‘We have been very lucky to have Jenny as a nurse for my son who is always very happy to see her, pulling a 'sad face' whenever she leaves!’.”

    Carer of the Month – North – Nicola Simpson

    “Nicola is a hugely respected and vital member of the package staff team. She is passionate and has a vast knowledge and understanding of the client and the care he requires. Nicola is dynamic, recognising potential problems and finding solutions whilst always communicating respectfully with the client, family, team members and TCS staff. Nicola has willingly supported new staff joining the package acting as a mentor to improve their understanding of the client’s care requirements, share her expertise and ensure they feel supported and welcomed during their transition. The client’s family speak highly of Nicola and hugely value her dedication to the client. Recently, Nicola accompanied the client and family on holiday and was a huge support to them all, as well as being an excellent organiser. Nicola is compassionate and caring whilst always maintaining professionalism. She ways strives to ensure the client and family receive excellent care at all times.”

    Carer of the Month – South – Aisha Williams

    “Aisha has shown commitment and worked tirelessly, going over and above what is expected of her. Aisha does her utmost to make sure she is on shift when the client has to travel to one of their numerous appointments, so that their parents can feel confident that an experienced team member is on hand and instinctively knows what needs to be done. Aisha works proactively and often respectfully showing new nurses the complexities of the package. She has exceeded our expectation, has been an amazing role model to all staff and has shown her expertise of such a complex package. Aisha continues to demonstrate her professionalism and her sheer passion to make this package not only work, but be the best it can be for not only the client, but the whole family.”

    Nurse of the Month – North – Lisa White

    “Lisa is truly dedicated to her client and is a fantastic nurse and crucial member of the team. She is one of the most reliable and committed nurses at TCS. She is compassionate and genuinely cares about her client and the family she works with. She has demonstrated her professionalism and utmost commitment by continually updating our clinical team on what is a very fast changing and challenging package of care. Lisa has agreed to do more regular shifts in the short term so that we can be assured our client is supported to the level and standard they need.”

    Nurse of the Month – South – Lucie Cockerton

    “Lucie is an asset to the team, she works with high standards of professionalism and all her care is patient focused. Her clinical knowledge and pro-activeness is invaluable. She always delivers thorough and precise handovers and has a great work ethic with her clients. Her high standards of nursing have shown through clinical handovers and consistently updating the RCL of clinical changes. She has a great rapport with the clients and their families. We cannot express enough how invaluable she is to our local RCL.”

    Carer of the Month – North – Naomi Lynch

    “Naomi has really gone above and beyond last month, always being available to help out if a last-minute shift request comes through. In recent weeks, she has worked really hard to understand a new communication device set up for one of the clients she supports, so she can have consistent and ongoing communication with them at all times.”

    Carer of the Month – South – Samina Sadique

    “A fellow TCS nurse nominated Samina for her hard-working ethic and invaluable support to her colleagues. She is very observant of subtle changes in her client’s condition. She has recently been an incredible support to a fellow nurse who was struggling to cope emotionally with caring for a palliative child. When we receive positive feedback from our nurses on one of their colleagues we believe this is the best type of feedback and Samina is a great example of what a TCS nurse should be.”
