Emrys Haugen

Managing Director

Emrys joined Thornbury Community Services (TCS) in 2015, beginning his journey as a Regional Business Manager before taking on a national role that led to the promotion to Operations Director and then Managing Director.

As Managing Director, Emrys enables our teams to continue our commitment to delivering an outstanding CQC-rated service whilst ensuring everyone has the right skills and resources to diversify and develop their expertise to match the needs of the changing healthcare system and develop a long-lasting and meaningful career. Alongside this, Emrys is responsible for ensuring TCS aligns with our parent company, Acacium Group and their values and strategic objectives to create a thriving culture that drives excellence by putting people first so we can work better together to achieve Acacium Group’s vision to be the leading global healthcare solutions partner.

From growing up in a residential home that supported individuals with learning disabilities and autism, Emrys witnessed the increasing demand for bespoke care and support services for people in the community. Growing up in this environment inspired him to want to add value to society and further support vulnerable people with a range of care needs. Emrys’ passion for people drives his ambition to achieve TCS’s vision of becoming a world-class care provider.

Ian McIntosh

Director of Growth and Business Development

Ian joined Thornbury Community Services (TCS) in 2017 and progressed in his career with TCS, gaining a vast amount of knowledge and experience in business development and creating and growing relationships and partnerships with integrated care boards (ICBs) and private clients.

As Director of Growth and Business Development, Ian oversees our Growth Team and collaborates with many departments across TCS, ensuring we evolve as a business by retaining and growing existing and new partnerships with ICBs, continue providing an outstanding CQC-rated service to our clients and deliver fully managed, complex care solutions to adults and children in the community.

Ian’s extensive knowledge and expertise in business development play a significant role in ensuring we are aligned with our values and well-placed in the healthcare industry to achieve our vision of being a world-class care provider so we can continue to support more individuals and create bespoke interim or longer-term care plans to match their needs.

 

Orlagh Balfe

Business Services Director

Orlagh joined Thornbury Community Services (TCS) in 2013 and progressed in her career with TCS, gaining a vast amount of knowledge and experience in resourcing and recruiting specialist nurses, support workers and healthcare assistants (HCAs) to deliver the very best care to our clients in the community.

As Business Services Director, Orlagh focuses on creating, building, and developing established functions within TCS Business Services, which consists of the Nurse and Support Worker Attraction Team, Onboarding and Retention Team, Marketing Team, Compliance Team, Quality and Systems Team, Customer Experience Team and the Data and Information Team.

With over 10 years’ experience at TCS, Orlagh has played an integral part in developing and growing the business to support the wider healthcare industry and TCS to improve experiences for our colleagues and healthcare professionals. Orlagh’s expertise enables the Business Services function to better support our healthcare professionals to deliver an ‘Outstanding’ CQC-rated service to our clients in the community and achieve our vision of becoming a world-class care provider.

Greg Ashton

Operations Director

Greg joined Thornbury Community Services (TCS) in 2020 as the Operations Director.

As the Operations Director, Greg oversees our Operations Team, who are the initial point of contact for our clients and healthcare professionals. Greg focuses on enabling his team to provide a continuous outstanding CQC-rated service to our clients, nurses, support workers and healthcare assistants 24/7.

Greg’s experience and expertise as a qualified solicitor with a background in project management, delivery of operational strategies and senior management of multi-site complex operations working predominantly in the public sector with vulnerable people enables TCS to deliver the best service and experience to our clients and healthcare professionals, supporting us in achieving our vision of becoming a world-class care provider.

 

Clare Metcalfe

Chief Nurse

Clare joined Thornbury Community Services (TCS) in 2019 as the Head of our Learning Disabilities and Autism Service, then progressed to the Registered Manager and Chief Nurse of our Learning Disabilities and Autism Service and Mental Health Service.

As one of our Chief Nurse’s, Clare works alongside our other Chief Nurse, Thomas Dowle, overseeing all clinical elements across our different TCS services to ensure we can continue to grow safely and successfully whilst maintaining Outstanding CQC-rated standards and delivering person-centred care to our clients with our values and vision in mind.

With over 26 years’ experience working in a variety of healthcare settings, including community care, Clare’s passion, integrity, expertise and nursing background enable TCS to support our healthcare professionals to successfully deliver person-centred outstanding care to our clients in the community to achieve our vision of becoming a world-class care provider.

Thomas Dowle

Chief Nurse

Thomas joined Thornbury Community Services (TCS) in 2021 as Chief Nurse and Registered Manager for our TCS Complex Care Service.

As Chief Nurse, Tom works alongside our other Chief Nurse, Clare Metcalfe, to ensure TCS continues to improve the quality of our services whilst maintaining our Outstanding CQC-rated standards to meet the needs of our clients and continue to empower and enable them to live meaningful lives under our care supervision.

With over 20 years’ experience working in the healthcare industry and several NHS hospitals where he designed an alternative care pathway for the London Ambulance Service for admission avoidance, Tom and his expertise play a key role in ensuring our clients’ needs are at the centre of everything we do, and we can continuously improve the quality of our services to achieve the vision of becoming a world-class care provider.

Kellie Preston

Transformation Director

Kellie joined Thornbury Community Services (TCS) in 2022 as a Senior People Partner before being promoted to Transformation Director in 2023.

As the Transformation Director, Kellie works with teams across TCS, supporting projects and enabling employees to be as effective as possible in their roles, ensuring they have the best support and technology to succeed and the opportunity to share ideas for improvements to create the best possible experience for our healthcare professionals and clients.

Kellie’s background in project management and change management supports TCS to deliver an outstanding CQC-rated service to our clients and succeed in achieving our vision to become a world-class care provider that delivers around-the-clock care, meeting the individual needs of people in the community.

John Allen

Head of Finance

John joined Thornbury Community Services (TCS) in 2022 as a Finance Business Partner, then progressed to the Head of Finance in 2023.

As the Head of Finance, John oversees the Finance Team and collaborates with the different TCS functions, providing strategic and operational insight and analysis of the business's performance to maintain our outstanding CQC-rated standards and enable growth and high-quality delivery of our services.

With seven years of experience working at the Virgin Group for a national healthcare provider, John's knowledge and expertise in finance and account management support commercial decision-making using budget and forecast data to determine changes aligned with our core values and vision to become a world-class care provider.
