Alzheimer's Society - A UK based care and research charity for people with dementia and their carers.
British Heart Foundation - A cardiovascular research UK charity that funds medical research focused on heart and circulatory diseases and their risks.
About Macmillan Cancer Support
In 1911, a man called Douglas Macmillan witnessed his father die from cancer. He founded the Macmillan Society for the prevention and relief of cancer. Since then, the charity has grown and is now the UK’s leading cancer support charity that helps those living with cancer through donations and sponsors.
The charity continues to adapt to ensure people receive the best possible support now and in the future. They aim to continually improve the support they provide and focus on preventing cancer.
About the Alzheimer’s Society
The Alzheimer’s Society was formed in 1979 by two people who had extensive experience and knowledge of caring for their relatives with dementia who wanted to raise awareness of dementia.
The Society aims to ‘transform the landscape of dementia forever.’ They want to create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted whilst able to live in their community.
About the British Heart Foundation
The British Heart Foundation began in 1961 by a group of medical professionals who wanted to fund research into the causes, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of heart and circulatory diseases.
The charity’s goal is by the year 2030, they want to see advances across the spectrum of heart and circulatory diseases. They want to prevent those conditions from developing further and those living with heart and circulatory diseases to have better and longer lives.
How are we supporting our sponsored charities?
We hope to raise a total of £15,000 for our three charities this year. We will be carrying out a range of events and activities to raise funds to support their research and development.
We are regularly holding coffee and cake mornings across our offices where individuals can bring in items and make a donation to the charities. As well as our coffee mornings, we will be carrying out regular raffles with a range of prizes available, including a Dyson Air wrap.
We have a 12-month healthy living program with a series of exciting workshops led by our employees, who are experts in a range of fields such as meditation, healthy eating, mindfulness and Bollywood dancing.
We have lots of artistic people within the business, and we wanted to showcase their talent by running a virtual art auction to raise money for our charities. We will also be shining a light on people’s pets and creating a 2023 calendar starring their favourite pet photos. The calendars will be available for anyone to purchase and all the proceeds we raise will be given to our three sponsored charities.
