National Inclusion Week 2021

Monday, September 27, 2021

National Inclusion Week takes place from the 27th of September to the 3rd of October. The campaign aims to celebrate everyday inclusion in all forms. This year marks the ninth-anniversary Inclusive Employers has brought different organisations together worldwide to celebrate, inspire and share inclusion practices and ideas.

National Inclusion Week theme

Every year, National Inclusion Week has its own theme. For 2021, the theme is unity. Inclusive Employers chose this theme as they want to become a force for change and action. They believe that uniting together to share ideas, learnings and best practices can help to make inclusion an everyday reality.

Who are Inclusive Employers?

Inclusive Employers were established in 2011. They are the first leading membership organisation for employers. They aim to make inclusion an everyday reality, share their everyday solutions and experiences with organisations and challenge and support them to be more inclusive.

How can you get involved with National Inclusion Week?

There are many ways you can get involved in National Inclusion Week. You can download the Inclusive Employers tool kit from their website, which contains a guide on how to support the campaign, visuals to use on social media posts such as logos and posters and some workshops and resources for educating yourself and others about the campaign.

Inclusive Employers is also running several webinars during the campaign. Below is a overview of the different webinars you can join.

Webinar 1: National Inclusion Week 2021: (NIW) launch and how to diversify your talent pool

In this webinar, Inclusive Employers will be joined by sporting bodies to learn how they have successfully involved diverse communities in their work and what lessons and actions other organisations can learn from.

Webinar 2: National Inclusion Week 2021: Attracting diverse talent from within your community

In this webinar, Inclusive Employers will explore how to understand the diverse communities local to you; and different ways to engage them with your organisation.

Webinar 3: National Inclusion Week 2021: Building anti-racist cultures

During this webinar, Inclusive Employers will discuss the launch of their anti-racism toolkit. Their toolkit has been created to support organisations to understand their journey towards developing an anti-racist culture and provide them with the tools and plans to bring their work.

Why are we supporting National Inclusion Week?

Inclusivity is a priority at Thornbury Community Services. We want to create a culture that allows everyone to be themselves, have a voice and share their thoughts and ideas. This week is an opportunity for us to showcase our fantastic employees, show how we demonstrate inclusion and what unity means to us.

How are we supporting National Inclusion Week?

At Thornbury Community Services, inclusion is one of our top priorities. To support this fantastic campaign, we have worked with our diversity and inclusion lead Shabana from our parent company, Acacium Group, to create an informative article about the importance of inclusion and unity. We will be sharing the article later this week on our social pages. We are also sharing several photos of people in our business who tell us what unity means to them. You can also find these posts on our social media pages. We have already shared our first one, which you can view on LinkedIn and Facebook.
