“Let us never consider ourselves finished nurses...we must be learning all of our lives”

– Florence Nightingale

TCS is proud to be supporting International Nurses Day, as nurses around the world are celebrated and recognised for the inspirational work they do. The International Council of Nurses (ICN) has celebrated this day since 1965, with the date of 12th May being chosen to mark the significance of Florence Nightingales birth-date. Known as the ‘Lady with the Lamp’, she was a revolutionary figure in the nursing industry and widely considered to be the founder of modern nursing itself.

The nursing profession continues to be recognised as one of the most important roles within modern society. As well as holding a celebration of the contributions that nurses make to cultures around the world, the ICN chooses a theme each year as a focus of International Nurses Day –helping to highlight the many ways in which nurses are making an impact. With this year’s theme being: ‘A Voice to Lead: Health for All’, the ICN states:

“As one of the most trusted and respected health professions, nurses are the engine room of the health system and are required to respond to the health needs of individuals, communities and the world.”

This year’s aim is to highlight the pivotal role nurses play in addressing the multiple health challenges that are being faced all over the world.

We celebrate our fantastic nurses every month, awarding our Nurse and Carer of the Month reward to those that go exceptionally above and beyond in the care they provide.

Our nurses’ tireless work and commitment make a crucial difference to the lives of the people they care for every day, and we’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of our fantastic  nurses and we are proud of the compassionate care they provide.
