TCS are proud to be supporting the wonderful charity Magic Moments throughout 2018.
The Magic Moments children’s charity was set up in 1998 by Alick Smith, the then Chairman of the UK’s largest independent estate agency Spicerhaart, and his wife Val. The charity was formally known as the Fantasy Charity Fund and has raised in excess of £1m over the years and is dedicated to helping children with life limiting illnesses and their families.
The charity relies on others to fundraise all year and is a charity that supports multiple hospices, some of which are accessed by TCS clients up and down the country. The charity also organises various ‘magic moments’ for children such as holidays and trips. The main aim of Magic Moments is to take families to Disneyland Paris every year for a special trip to spend time together. Sometimes families have been recently bereaved and they find the support at this very difficult time absolutely invaluable.
In 2016 they ran a record three trips and took just under 300 people (59 families) from the twelve hospices they support to Disneyland Paris for four days.
Magic Moments was nominated by Becky and Charlotte from the TCS team. They nominated Magic Moment as the charity supports multiple hospices that we work with on a daily basis. Last year, one of our clients was chosen for a fully funded adventure to Disneyland Paris. Our client, who had complex care needs, his mother and his two carers travelled and had the most amazing time. Sadly, our client passed away earlier this year but his family have told us that the trip was amazing and they have memories forever.
"Over the past years I have completed a variety of charity events raising money for valuable worthy causes and I am grateful to all who have supported me in the past. This year - a new challenge. And this year it is very poignant; the charity I am fundraising for, as part of a team, is Magic Moments. This charity is dedicated to helping children suffering with life limiting illnesses. Last year Magic Moments helped a very special boy, who I looked after for five short years, go on a trip of a lifetime to Disneyland Paris. This year we had to say a very sad goodbye to this boy. Memories created will last forever for this family.
They paid for and arranged a trip that was priceless to this family and many others. To hear and see the stories and photos on a genuine trip of a lifetime was so special. These trips and memories can only be made through fundraising by supporters. I wanted to be able to help other families experience this, so as part of a team of work colleagues at TCS, I am taking part this year in a Mega Challenge walking between 25km-100km across the beautiful Cotswold countryside. It hasn’t been easy to fit in the training regime into busy work and family lives and the walk will be tough - but a small price to pay to help create more Magic Moments."
