The Learning Disabilities and Autism division of Thornbury Community Services (TCS) is committed to providing specialist, outcome-focused support for adults and children that are diagnosed with a learning disability and/or autism and require the best
support workers and registered learning disability nurses (RNLDs) to achieve this.

The recruitment process
The recruitment team will provide consistent support throughout each stage of the recruitment process to ensure you have a smooth, positive experience. Following your application, you will start your recruitment journey with our dedicated team. Our team
will discuss with you your recent learning disabilities and autism experience, including any experience you have using Positive Behavioural Support strategies (PBS) and Positive Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA).
Interview
We use a video interview service called HireVue to complete our registered learning disability nurse and support worker interviews for our learning disabilities and autism service. HireVue enables you to interview at a time convenient for you in under
30 minutes, you will also be able to stop the interview in between questions and return to it later, perfect for nervous interviewees or busy lifestyles! Once completed, your interview will be assessed by our registered nurse interviewer and you will
then be contacted with our feedback. If your interview is successful, we will contact you to discuss the next stage of our recruitment progress.
Recruitment Compliance
Ensuring the safety of our clients is of upmost importance. Our thorough recruitment process has been carefully curated to make sure we are putting the right people in the packages of care where they will be able to make the biggest difference. To enable
you to effectively understand the individuals you will be supporting, you will be asked to complete or evidence the below:
- Occupational health questionnaire.
- Evidence of your core skills training to include PMVA, PBS and medication management.
- Additional compliance documentation.
- Reference checks.
- Bespoke training, tailored to the individuals you will be supporting.
Finally, you will be sent a welcome pack in the post which will include your ID badge and some timesheets to get you started. You will then be able to book onto shifts immediately by calling our Community Operations team.
